Simple and painless test to assess lung function

Spirometry is a standardized lung function test used to check how well your lungs are working: how much air you can breathe in and out and how quickly this happens. This examination helps us determine whether your airways are clear or may be narrowed, for example in conditions such as asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

The test is painless and usually takes only a few minutes. You breathe through a mouthpiece into a special measuring device that records breathing volumes and airflow. These measurements provide important information as to whether a lung condition is present or how well an already known condition is being controlled.

Spirometry may be useful in cases of shortness of breath, persistent coughing, reduced performance or as part of monitoring chronic lung diseases.

Based on the results, we can discuss together which further measures, therapies or follow-up checks are useful for your respiratory health and how your values change over time.
